As a leader in its field of lubricant technology, Motul is honoured to be involved with many different motorsport teams, championships and events around the world, and none more so than the highly competitive Super GT series in Japan.
It is therefore with great pride and pleasure that Motul extends its warmest congratulations to Nismo’s factory-supported Motul Autech team, who this weekend secured the 2014 Super GT Championship title. In addition, the team’s drivers pairing of Tsugio Matsuda and Ronnie Quintarelli took their second victory of the year at the final race of the season at Twin Ring Motegi on their way to the GT500 Drivers Championship.
For Japanese driver Matsuda, it is his first Super GT title and comes in his first year back with Nismo following an absence of seven years. It is Italian Quintarelli’s second championship success and, for both drivers and team, it is particularly impressive as they competed in 2014 with an all-new Nismo GT500 car. As Matsuda noted at the car’s launch in April, “I like to think that we’ve poured our heart and soul into this car and will give it our all.” They certainly did!
Motul has been a loyal partner of Nismo since 2003 and works closely with the Japanese manufacturer to constantly upgrade and improve the lubricant technology available to its teams and all Nissan engines. The “Nismo Competition Oil by Motul” series, a range of original motor oil products, has been a result of this collaboration and it is used by the Nissan GT-Rs in competition. The range is also available for GT-R owners via the Nismo parts catalogue.
