The Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept is for those who want their car to do it all
With SUVs becoming the new default car body type and phasing out sedans, it is only natural that more and more car buyers would want an SUV that is not just practical and comfortable but also sporty. Well, Korean luxury brand Genesis has unveiled the GV80 Coupe Concept which promises just that.
The four-seater Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept adds a sporty appeal to the Genesis brand and Luc Donckerwolke, Group Chief Creative Officer, stated, “It emphasizes the duality of the Genesis brand by showcasing the antagonistic character that lives within the Athletic and Elegance parameters of Genesis’ design philosophy.”
Moreover, the Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept is inspired by the X Speedium Coupe Concept unveiled in New York last year and combines the practicality of an SUV with the performance and style of a sports coupe. So for those who want it all, then this car is definitely for you.
Luc Donckerwolke, added, “At its inception, the Genesis brand began creating luxury sedans, which evolved into the G70, G80, and G90 models. Over the past seven years, we have added more lifestyle-oriented models to the portfolio, such as our GV80 and GV70 SUVs. Now we are pushing the envelope with more emotional cars that elevate Genesis’ performance and dynamic attributes.”
The Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept is rear-wheel-drive and this is the reason behind the car’s long hood and adds an element of sportiness to the drive. Complemented by a roll cage in the back, this means that the car is bound to have monstrous performance and a swift 0 to 100km/h time.
On top of that, to further reinforce its driving dynamics, the Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept features an optimized aerodynamic fluidity thanks to an upper rear spoiler and spoiler lip on the elliptical concave ducktail, which provides increased downforce at speed. All of this gives the car a more sporty look and much sportier handling.
The interior of the Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept also exudes duality like the car’s exterior and is a contrast between elegant Beauty of the Genesis White Space philosophy and sportiness with four bucket seats that provide better support while cornering, contributing to passenger safety and comfort.
the Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept also features a three-spoke steering wheel that plays an important role in emphasizing the sportiness of the car’s interior, which features contrasting black Nappa and suede leather with plaid double stitching, orange piping and carbon fiber weaves on the functional surfaces for more sportiness.
So what do you guys think of the Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept? Do you think coupe SUVs are the future of the automotive world or do you think SUVs should stay practical vehicles and leave the sporty element to lower slung vehicles?
