Kia EV9 3-Row Electric SUV Full Details & Launch Date Revealed

The Kia EV9 gets fleshed out in full detail.

Kia today shared all details of its upcoming EV9 and announced key dates:

  1. Physical Debut: Seoul Mobility Show 2023 in a few days
  2. North American Debut: New York International Auto Show 2023 (April)
  3. Korean launch date: Q2 2023
  4. Global launch date: H2 2023

While many details were already known before, almost all specifications were shared at today’s event.

Kia will debut Level 3 autonomous driving on the EV9 in certain areas. This system uses 15 sensors and 2 Lidars and will be available on the top-spec GT-Line model. The EV9 also comes with the Kia Connect Store, a way for the company to sell new features and services to customers. EV9 owners can buy new lighting patterns and additional torque from their motors. Besides that there’s also Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 and Kia’s Digital Key 2, which allow customers to unlock and use their EV9 with their smartphone.

In terms of seating configurations, there will be seven and six-seater variants available. In fact, there are actually 4 seating configurations available as Kia have prepared a standard bench, basic individual seats, relaxation individual seats and swivel type individual seats for the 2nd row.

In terms of the powertrain and battery pack here’s what was shared. There will be rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants available, standard and long range batteries available and multiple motor outputs too.

    • 150kW/350Nm electric motor
      • 0-100km/h in 9.4 seconds
    • 160kW/350Nm electric motor
      • 0-100km/h in 8.2 seconds
  • AWD variant
    • 283kW/600Nm combined electric motors
      • 0-100km/h in 6 seconds
    • 283kW/700Nm (with optional Boost feature)
      • 0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds

The batteries all-new, the company’s 4th generation versions with 76.1kWh and 99.8kWh sizes available.

Maximum range is quoted at 541km (WLTP, RWD Long Range with 19″ wheels).
