Toyota Prius PHEV Debuts With Up To 105km Of Emissions-Free Driving Range

The Toyota Prius PHEV is the latest powertrain variant of the new Prius to be shown.

Toyota has announced the launch of its all-new Prius Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) models, known as the Z grade. This is the latest edition of the 5th generation Prius that was shown late last year in hybrid form.

The Prius PHEV has been developed under the “Hybrid Reborn” concept, adding an environmentally friendly car to the exciting package that comes with its design and captivating driving performance. With its latest plug-in hybrid system, the Prius PHEV offers a high-performance version equipped with a compact, high-capacity drive battery, a high-output drive motor, and a high-efficiency gasoline engine.

The Prius PHEV features a unique PHEV external power supply system, which enables the car to supply power in various scenarios, including an external power supply mode and an external emergency power supply mode.

The external power supply mode allows the car battery to provide power during outdoor, leisure, and other activities. The external emergency power supply mode provides a larger supply of power during blackouts, disasters, and other emergencies by using the engine to generate electricity.

The new Prius PHEV achieves a high level of dynamic performance with a maximum system output of 223 PS of power, which is about double that of the previous model. It also offers great fuel efficiency of 26.0 km/L with 19-inch tires and 30.1 km/L with 17-inch tires. The BEV driving distance is 87 km with 19-inch tires and 105 km with 17-inch tires. The 105 km represents an improvement of 75% compared to the previous model.

The new Prius PHEV is equipped with Regeneration Boost, which provides stronger regenerative braking force than normal to deliver responsive driving performance while reducing the frequency of switching between the accelerator and brake pedals.

The vehicle also comes with both a BEV external power supply mode and an HEV external power supply mode. In the HEV external power supply mode, electricity is supplied from the battery only until the remaining power falls to a set level, after which the engine starts to supply electricity.

The new Prius PHEV is equipped with a second-generation solar charging system that efficiently converts solar energy into electricity. With a highly efficient solar panel installed into the vehicle roof, the battery can be charged while the vehicle is parked or while driving. The solar panel provides enough power to drive up to 1,250 km per year in BEV mode.

It also comes with a “My Room Mode”, which allows users to enjoy air conditioning and the audio system while the car is being powered by an external power source. This allows the Prius PHEV to be used as a work or rest space while the car is being charged.

The design of the PHEV model is only subtly different to the hybrid model. The 19″ aluminium wheels come in an exclusive design and there’s also a metallic silver lower grille to go with smoky grey tail lamps on this Prius PHEV.
