The all new 2023 Perodua Axia is keeping graphic artists around the country busy with their versions of what the new model will look like and this set of pictures we found circulating on social media got our attention as we think they look really ‘funky and stylish’.
Question? Will these renderings get the attention of Perodua management?
Meanwhile, the all new Axia will be launched in the next few weeks and it represents the first major generational change since the nameplate was introduced back in 2014.
The all-new Perodua Axia is built on a version of the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform and carries a 1.0L 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, likely the same exact power unit in the current Axia with 67 horsepower and 91Nm of torque available.
What is new is the gearbox. Perodua are retiring the 5-speed manual and giving the Axia a D-CVT as standard which might be missed by some buyers in small towns that prefer a simple setup as traffic jams do not exist.
Interestingly, Perodua marketers are also boasting an internal fuel consumption rating of 27.4km/l with this powertrain and Eco Idle auto start-stop which makes it super efficient as a city commuter.
So, what features will you be getting with this new Axia?
Well, this 2023 Axia will also bring a few new standard features even on the lowest ‘Axia G’ trim level, which is estimated to cost around RM38,600. These include electrically-adjustable wing mirrors, Anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist, Traction Control, a standard audio head-unit and an LCD Multi-info display.
Moving up to the Axia X trim (with an estimated price RM40,000), you get LED headlamps added. The Axia SE trim (estimated price RM44,000) adds on Eco Idle auto start-stop, auto retractable wing mirrors with integrated turn signals, semi-bucket front seats, an LCD for the tachometer and Solar & Security film for the windows.
Lets not forget the high specification Axia which is called ‘AV’ (estimated price RM49,500). This version gets 2-tone semi-leather upholstery for the seats, a 7″ TFT multi info display and a 9″ display audio infotainment system.
The digital elements seem to be the same as the ones found on the new Myvi facelift and the popular Ativa crossover.
