The Zeekr X Is A Wild China Only EV Hatchback

Could the Zeekr X be a EV Myvi competitor in Malaysia?

While this car may look like something straight out of a comic book, it is 100 percent real. Formerly known as the Zeekr 003, the Zeekr X is the third vehicle under the Zeekr brand after the Zeekr 001 sedan and the Zeekr 009 MPV.

Being the newest Zeekr car, the new X looks very different from other Zeekr cars.

Since the Zeekr X is also the newest car from the brand, it has learned from customer feedback and incorporated many cool design features such as a the high belt line, frameless doors, hidden door handles, a cool new surfacing on the doors, shiny black wheel arches and a two tone body colour.

Moreover, the Zeekr X is based on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform and as such is pretty much similar in size to the Smart #1 (which should be rebadged and sold in Malaysia under Proton’s Pro-Net soon) and the Volvo XC30, both of which are also built on the same platform.

Speaking of which, since the Smart #1 is available in rear-wheel drive (200 kW) and all-wheel drive versions (200 kW rear and 115 kW front), the Zeekr X is also expected to get the same powertrains. Zeekr has also stated that the high-performance variant of the Zeekr X will be capable of going from 0-100km/h in just 3 seconds.

On top of that, the Zeekr X measures 4,450mm long, 1,836mm wide, 1,572mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,750mm. For reference, the Smart #1 on the other hand, measures 4,270mm long, 1,822mm wide, 1,636mm tall and also has a 2,750mm wheelbase. Essentially, the Zeekr x is slightly longer and wider but also shorter.

Another cool but weird design feature on the Zeekr X is the rear end of the car. The rear window is rather small and features a rear spoiler. The word “Zeekr” is illuminated right in the centre of the rear and is flanked on either end with a light bar. The shape of the booth also seems to taper in towards the centre as well.

Meanwhile in the front, the trunk of the Zeekr X features a strong bulge right down the middle and a pair of sharp, long, somewhat L-shaped headlights. This car is expected to hit the Chinese market early in the second quarter of the year before debuting in Europe where it will go on sale in markets such as Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden.

At this time, there is no word that the car will ever come to Malaysia in any form, but still, one has to wonder, what if it did? Will the mighty Perodua Myvi finally lose its crown? Or will Malaysians stand by our local king? I suppose we will never know.
