This is why this news might be relevant right now for us.  Here they have unveiled the third generation of its CS75 Plus iDD SUV at the 2023 Changan Automobile Global Partner Conference in China and we think it would be the perfect SUV for the brand to enter the Malaysian market with. Here is why we think so.

First and foremost, the Changan CS75 Plus iDD runs on the brand’s iDD electric hybrid system consisting of a 1.5 litre turbocharged engine and an electric motor with an NEDC electric cruising range of 150km. This is attractive to Malaysians as the infrastructure for all electric cars is not yet optimal here but hybrids are still viable.

Moreover, the chairman of Changan Automobile,  Zhu Huarong, shared at the conference that the company aims to sell 4 million vehicles by 2025, with 3 million of those vehicles coming from the Changan brand and new energy vehicle sales accounting for 35 percent and overseas sales accounting for 15 percent.

On top of that, Changan Automobile also plans to sell 5 million vehicles by 2030 and hopes that 4 million of those vehicles will come from the Changan brand with new energy vehicle sales accounting for more than 60 percent of those figures, and overseas sales accounting for 30 of the total number.

Being a high-end version of the Changan CS75 SUV, the Changan CS75 Plus iDD measures 4,710mm long, 1,865mm wide and 1,710mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,710mm and is slightly longer than the standard version. It is also a 5-seater and since 5-seater SUVs are so popular here, this one should sell like hot cakes.

Furthermore, the SUV is equipped with Changan’s Blue Whale iDD 1.5T hybrid system, that makes 125 kW with the electric motor putting out 110 kW. The car has a comprehensive cruising range of up to 1200 km and the system supports both AC and DC fast charging and can be fully charged in about 30 minutes.

Additionally, the interior is simple but classy and looks very luxurious with the leather looking very comfortable. I especially like the touches of blue around the car. The layout is typical of most modern cars with a 12.3 inch central infotainment screen and a digital driver display. The oval shaped steering wheel is odd though.

As for safety, the Changan CS75 Plus iDD comes with level 2 driving assistance that supports adaptive cruise control, lane centering, merging assistance, front and rear collision warning with active braking, a 360-degree panoramic camera and a driver monitor system for active fatigue detection. No official price has been revealed yet.
