Ford just announced October sales that rose two percent from the previous month to 1,209 units, led by continuing strength in demand for the Ranger, EcoSport, Kuga and Fiesta nameplates. Ford also announced the continued expansion of its Malaysia showroom in October with the arrival of the new feature-packed Fiesta ST with 1.6L EcoBoost engine. Arriving in showrooms later this month, the Fiesta ST will add a dynamic and high-performance boost to the expanding Ford line-up in Malaysia.
“We’re excited to be continuing our Malaysia growth plan with each new global Ford vehicle that we introduce, and even more excited to be providing customers with even more choice,” said David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.
Ford’s year-to-date sales have now risen 28 percent to 11,426 units putting the company on pace for a record sales year in Malaysia.
The October performance was led by the versatile Ranger pickup with sales that rose 11 percent from the prior month to 829 units. Through October, Ranger sales have surged 46 percent to 6,831 units as strong demand continues to grow across the full lineup.
Offering an unmatched safety package in Malaysia, the full Ranger lineup is now equipped with additional active and passive safety features, including Ford’s Electronic Stability Program (ESP) across all variants and ISOFIX mounts for child seats in the Wildtrak, as well as all XLT and XL Double Cab variants.
“The strong sales we’re continuing to see across the full Ranger lineup help to underscore the versatility of this unmatched pickup truck,” said Westerman.
The sporty new Fiesta delivered retail sales of 159 units in October, helping drive year-to-date sales up 28 percent to 2,750 units.
Healthy demand for Fiesta is being driven by its high-performance 1.0L EcoBoost engine – which this year won the International Engine of the Year for the third consecutive year – as well as its global 1.5L TiVCT engine variant.
The all-new EcoSport compact urban SUV continued to gain traction during its second full month in the market with sales that rose five percent from September to 86 units. The all-new EcoSport combines the high driving position and ground clearance of an SUV with the maneuverability and convenience of a small car.
“The all-new EcoSport is helping define a whole new vehicle segment, and is proving popular with consumers who appreciate an exciting alternative to a small car,” explained Westerman.
Sales of the stylish Kuga SUV rose 10 percent to 73 units in October, contributing to year-to-date sales of 772 units.
