All New Honda BR-V Coming To Challenge The Veloz

Could the Honda BR-V even affect sales of the new Alza?

There are many car brands in the world synonymous with certain things, an in Malaysia, one brand is more synonymous with success than any other, Honda, however, their BR-V is aging and cars like the Alza and Veloz have the newest people movers, not for long as the all new 2023 Honda BR-V is coming to retake the crown.

The all new Honda BR-V is also adopting a more SUV like exterior styling just like the competition yet being a Honda, it is still more than spacious enough to comfortably fit seven on long road trips. All that plus the prestige of the Honda badge, means this car will be flying off the showroom floor if the price is just right.

Moreover, the all new Honda BR-V seems to have a higher ground clearance than before based on the picture and the overall styling seems to make the car appear shorter than it actually is. However, Honda’s philosophy of “Man-maximum, machine-minimum” will ensure ample space inside.

On top of that, the all new Honda BR-V is now bigger than before and offers more headroom and legroom to all passengers. What’s more, it comes with a one-touch tumble second row seats and the third row seats feature a drive down mechanism which adds more convenience to using the car daily.

At the heart of the all new Honda BR-V is a powerful yet efficient (as is the case with all Hondas) 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine capable of putting out 121Ps of power and 145Nm of torque paired to a CVT gearbox and we can also assume that the top spec version of the car will come with Honda Sensing as standard.

Speaking of Honda sensing, the Honda BR-V would enjoy a whole host of safety features under this including a collision mitigating brake system, auto-high beam, lane keeping assist, lead car departure notification system, road departure mitigation system, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and low-speed follow.

Needless to say, with all these safety features going for it, the all new Honda BR-V has received a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating and demonstrates why most Malaysians hold the brand in such high regard. The brand’s cars are safe, reliable, stylish and fuel effective, they are literally the whole package.

The only problem now would be the price, the current generation Honda BR-V are priced at RM90,700 and RM97,700. If Honda can manage to keep the BR-V priced at under RM120,000 I think it should still sell, however with the Veloz priced at RM95,000, Honda’s best bet would be to keep it below the RM100,000 mark.
