Lewis Hamilton further extended his World Championship lead by securing his fifth straight win of the 2014 F1 season in Austin, USA. Hamilton followed pole man and team mate Nico Rosberg in the first part of the race and remained behind after the first pit stops, but in the middle of the race he obviously made good effort with his tires and decided it was time to tale the charge and chased his teammate down and passed him with an impressive move on lap 24.Rosberg started from pole position but Hamilton saw his chance and grabbed it when the German went wide into turn 12 on the 24th of 56 laps. Hamilton went through on the inside, forcing his team mate onto the run-off on the exit.
Rosberg stayed in touch for the rest of the race, but Rosberg had the situation under control. Rosberg finished second, and Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull was third. It was the 32nd win of Hamilton’s career, giving him one victory clear of the legendary Nigel Mansell as the British driver with most career successes in F1. Hamilton now has 316 points to Rosberg’s 292.
