Perodua Donates Myvi Patrol Vehicles To PDRM Hulu Selangor

Perodua Myvi patrol vehicles are coming to Hulu Selangor.

Perodua today handed over 5 silver Myvis to PDRM Hulu Selangor today in a ceremony attended by Selangor Police Chief Dato’ Arjunaidi Mohamed, Perodua Chairman Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin and other members of the Royal Malaysia Police.

The 5 units of Perodua Myvi that were donated were of the pre-facelift variant that has been on sale since 2017. So if you’re awaiting delivery of your Myvi, rest assured that it had nothing to do with this act of generosity – no customer-bound Myvis were pulled out of the line for the police. The Perodua Myvis were also of the AV variant, the highest spec you can get. This means that it comes with Perodua’s Advanced Safety Assist features and more.

It’s worth noting that these Myvis were also lightly modified for use by the police. Changes include some blue and yellow decals as well as Perodua logos. The largest change comes in the form of a light bar mounted to the roof and inside, there’s a siren system. The Perodua’s 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine may only produce 102hp, but most Malaysians are aware that it is still the ‘King’ of the road despite these on paper limitations.

The Police Chief, Dato’ Arjunaidi, commented that these Perodua Myvis would be used to help PDRM deter crime by increasing their presence in the two districts. The cars would also help the police get closer to their communities by increasing their mobility and reach.

These Myvis come with their 5 year manufacturer warranties intact but are also bundled with 2 years of free scheduled maintenance and parts. That is awfully generous and must be applauded as it puts a relief on public spending. Perodua puts the value of this donation at RM400,000. The full-spec Myvi AV was RM55,300 new for private registration in Peninsular Malaysia.

This is part of Perodua’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility efforts and not the first time the Malaysian car company has assisted the police with patrol vehicles. Back in 2016, Perodua also gave PDRM four units of the Perodua Axia.
