Did this driver in Thailand escape summons to land in more trouble?
From what we can see based on the picture, this driver in Thailand is truly a quick thinker. He decided that the clamped alloy wheel on his Honda City was expendable and decided to ditch it to avoid paying his summons.
So, let’s first get this out of the way, yes he broke the law by doing this. Clearly evading a summons for your clamped car by ditching the wheel and using your spare tyre to drive off is a crime.
While I do respect the effort, a small amount of forward thinking is due here. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see that this could come back to bite him in the worst of ways.
So while one may argue that this is a smart way of avoiding paying one’s summons, my good friend whom I will not name, would beg to differ. For as long as I have known said friend he has always said “the only smart crime, is the one where you don’t get caught.”
He also has a few outlandish beliefs here and there so I try to take what he says with a pinch of salt. Clearly as we can see in the picture, the man trying to escape paying his summons was caught.
Fortunately for him, we could not see his face, unfortunately however, when he eventually needs to get his alloy wheel unclamped, he may face even more summons and perhaps even a hefty fine and/or jail time.
On top of that, assuming he is not the one who brings the wheel in with the locking boot to a shop to get it removed and a law enforcement officer or any related official brings it in, the driver now will have to own up and pay his summons and whatever other fees his recklessness earned him.
He will need that alloy wheel back, after all, otherwise people will start to notice the random car with one wheel suspiciously different from the other three. If that were to happen, it would draw unwanted attention and he would be exposed immediately. So is it really worth all this to not pay your summons?
Personally, I don’t think so, but what say you? Should you find yourself in a situation where you had to choose between paying your summons or being slick (clearly not slick enough) like this driver, what would you do?
I just hope everyone remembers to think long term, especially when it comes to summons as running away from your problems, always just leads to bigger problems.
On behalf of everyone here at DSF, remember to always stay smart and don’t forget to obey all traffic laws and pay all your summons to ensure your problems don’t spiral out of control.
