The 11th generation Honda Accord will be shown soon with some Civic-inspired styling.
If you’re not a fan of the current Honda Accord’s design, you’ll be happy to hear that the next generation model is just around the corner and takes its styling cues from the award-winning 11th generation Honda Civic. According to patent leaks from Brazil, the new Honda Accord will keep to the same general dimensions as the outgoing model. It will also retain the current swooping roofline, which is coupé inspired.
What will change is the face and rear end of the car. These are dramatically different from the current model. In fact, it’s pretty clear that the new D-segment sedan takes inspiration from the Civic in terms of its front and rear fascias.
The taillights stretch all the way to the end of the bumpers, extending into the side profile significantly. They also merge in the centre with the LED graphics of the taillight seeming to extend all the way to the Honda logo, which is also mounted on the centre taillight piece rather than on a body panel. The rear bumper is simple and clean. Again, it’s very much inspired by the Civic’s look safe for the absence of tailpipe finishers on this patent image.
The front end shows a more dignified look than the Civic’s but with the same pronounced brow and low that has become a signature of Honda design in this generation. The new Accord will feature a hexagonal grille with large cutouts. This grille appears to be in a darker, contrasting colour to the bodywork, though the actual vehicle may actually have the grille finished in chrome. Another very wide intake is found below the grille at the front bumper.
Besides that there’s very little information out about the upcoming Honda Accord. It will probably be the next global reveal for the Japanese carmaker following the new CR-V and new Civic Type R reveals. Like the CR-V, Civic and HR-V, the Accord in anticipated to keep running the turbocharged 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that debuted in the previous generation. As in the outgoing Accord, this engine will have a slightly higher output befitting the Accord’s status as Honda’s global flagship 4-door. The CR-V’s new 2.0L naturally-aspirated hybrid powertrain is also expected to be on offer here.
