Backed by a strong forward momentum, Honda Malaysia is confident that they will easily achieve their 2022 sales target
Honda Malaysia has had an impressive year this 2022 and their momentum is still going strong. Having sold over 39,000 units in the first half of the year, accounting for a total of 12 percent of the Total Industry Volume (TIV) as of 30 June 2022.
The three most popular models sold were the Honda City sedan, City hatchback and Civic sedan which contributed to most of the total sales. Each of these cars were number one in their respective segments in terms of sales from January to June of this year.
Honda has also received more than 105,000 bookings from January to June of this year. Honda Malaysia has seen a 60 percent year-on-year increase for the first half of this year compared to last year.
This strong forward momentum is keeping the company on track to achieving their 2022 sales target of 80,000 units. Moreover, Honda recorded their highest monthly sales in March of this year with more than 10,500 units being sold that month alone.
The Honda city contributed to a whopping 39 percent of total sales for sales performance by models making it the best-selling model by a sizable margin. The Honda City hatchback was the second best-seller with a 23 percent total sales contribution followed by the Honda Civic at 18 percent.
Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura said, “Honda Malaysia started 2022 on a high note with the launch of the Civic in January, which left a strong impression in the market with its attractive and premium features.”
“Recently in July, we kept the momentum going with the launch of our popular Compact SUV, the All-New HR-V. Since its launch, the all-new model, featuring exceptional styling and advanced technology, has received outstanding response from the market,” he added.
He also said, “The positive acceptance of the Honda models helped to boost our sales performance this year. We saw high demand in terms of bookings in the run up to the end of sales tax exemption on 30th June 2022, where more than 105,000 bookings were received in the first six months this year.”
Honda Malaysia is grateful to the Malaysian government for extending the sales tax exemptions and assures us that Honda is hard at work to ensure all cars are delivered to customers in a timely manner without sacrificing superior quality. Honda Malaysia credits its customers with this recent success and appreciates their continued support.
Do you think Honda Malaysia will be able to achieve their sales target or will things slow down considerably now that the sales tax is no longer exempted? I for one am rooting for Honda and hope they achieve a number higher than their target.
