The Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC defines the future of luxury with unrivaled quality, comfort and safety
The third and final electric vehicle (EV) that Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launched to complement their EQ line up is the gorgeous Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC, which coincidentally was presented to us in a dark, stunning electric blue colour.
The Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC will cost about RM390,000 on-the-road without insurance, after tax and EV incentives and also comes in AMG line trim just like the Mercedes EQS 450+ EV sedan.
Despite weighing 2,395kg, this SUV is surprisingly the fastest accelerating car among the three EV models Mercedes unveiled. This is largely due to the efficient and powerful battery powering the Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC. The car also has a 2,873mm wheelbase and measurements of 4,762/1,884/1,624mm.
The Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC battery puts out 408hp and a neck-breaking 760Nm, which allows the SUV to reach a top speed of 180km/h and goes from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.1 seconds. The battery is also capable of a WLTP range of 437km and a WLTP electrical consumption rate of up to 21.3kWh/100km.
As far as charging goes, the Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC also supports 11kW AC charging which takes 7 and a half hours to fully charge the car from 10 percent.
Alternatively, the car can also be charged with a 110kW DC charger which will take the car from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 40 minutes for when you really need to get it charged quickly.
As for the exterior, the Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC has similar styling cues as the other two newly unveiled EQ EVs with a light bar connecting the headlights and taillights, a huge front grille and sharp headlights but is slightly boxier than its counterparts.
On the inside is where the Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC truly shines through. While not as futuristic as the triple screen layout of the EQS 450+ sedan, it has a more tasteful and simple design that is more familiar to Mercedes non electric cars and to me, I think that’s much more elegant than anything else.
Along with the usual, dual screen infotainment and driver display we are used to seeing in Mercedes cars, the Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC has a simple and clean centre console design and some smart driver assist systems with rear air-conditioning vents for rear passengers ensuring the highest level of comfort for everyone.
The Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC also comes with a four-year unlimited mileage warranty while its battery has a eight years or 160,000km warranty, whichever comes first.
What do you think about this car? Personally, I generally prefer sedans, however with the distracting interior, I somewhat prefer the EQC as I am more old school (read: I’m a boomer and technology scares me) and the simpler design just makes me feel more comfortable.
