Equipped with the comfort and luxury Mercedes-Benz is known for, the Mercedes EQS 450+ is the definition of the future of luxury
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has just launched three all-new, Electric Vehicles (EVs) under their EQ range and states that these EVs define the future of electric mobility, and also luxury in Malaysia. For this article, we will focus on the flagship EV sedan, the Mercedes EQS 450+.
While the Mercedes EQS 450+ made its global debut in April 2021, this futuristic sedan is finally available here at home. Built on the Modular Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) platform, this car will be offered in only one variant, the AMG Line variant and will be sold for RM698,888 including tax and EV incentives (on the road without insurance).
The Mercedes EQS 450+ will be fully imported from Germany and comes with a four-year unlimited mileage warranty as standard and also has a 10-year or 250,000km warranty for the electric battery, whichever comes first, of course.
This battery powering the Mercedes EQS 450+ has a capacity of 107.8kWh and produces 333hp and 565Nm of torque. This launches the electrifying sedan from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.2 seconds. The car has a top speed of 210km/h and an electric range of about 782km.
As far as charging goes, the Mercedes EQS 450+ supports 11kw AC charging which will fully charge the car from 10 percent in 10 hours. However, if you’re in a pinch, the EQS also supports 200kw DC charging which will charge the car from 10 percent to 80 percent in a shocking 31 minutes.
With measurements of 5,216/1,926/1,512mm and with a 3,210mm wheelbase, the 2,480kg Mercedes EQS 450+ has a WLTP electric consumption of up to 19.8kWh/100km.
Mercedes also put in a lot of work to ensure that the Mercedes EQS 450+ would be as aerodynamic as possible and achieved a new Coefficient Drag (Cd) benchmark of 0.20, thus making the EQS the most aerodynamic production car in the world, and it does all this while still looking so good.
With a coupe-like design, massive front grille, sharp headlights and a sleek body, the Mercedes EQS 450+ is unmistakable on the outside and extremely luxurious on the inside.
With Mercedes’ signature 64-colour ambient lighting, black nappa leather seats, tasteful touches of chrome and intelligent driver assistance on a gigantic infotainment screen connected to two more screens for driver display and for the front passenger, it’s unique and mesmerizing to sit inside this car.
What do you think of the Mercedes EQS 450+? Do you think it could replace the S-Class in the future? I guess we will have to wait and see.
