The stylish compact premium DS 7 Crossback has been facelifted and is now called just ‘DS 7’.
The premium segment takes design seriously as a rule and French car companies are also extremely design-centric by tradition. With DS, we have a PREMIUM FRENCH marque and thus the emphasis on design excellence is doubled. The 2017 DS 7 Crossback was the first vehicle to be purely developed under the ‘DS Automobiles’ brand after it was spun off from Citroën in 2015.
Now the DS 7 has been facelifted for the 2023 model year and the ‘Crossback’ suffix has been dropped from the model name, putting it in line with other DS models that have since been released. While new brand guardians Bermaz have put their sales focus on Peugeot, the new DS 3 has been spotted in Glenmarie, which may indicate their intention to bring in the new DS 7 as well.
The new DS 7 features a signifcantly altered front and rear with more dynamism and sharpness in the design. New DS Pixel LED Vision 3.0 headlights and DS Light Veil daytime running lights with 66 individual LEDs characterise the front design along with the larger DS Wings grille.
Around back, slimmer scale-like LED taillights with a vortex effect and a dark metallic finish create a unique expression. The boot lid and badge has also been reworked with sharper lines and new script that reads “DS Automobiles” instead of “Crossback”.
The side profile now sports gloss black window surrounds and roof bars. New 19″ wheel designs (named Edinburgh and Silverstone) and 21″ wheels (named Brooklyn) improve aerodynamic efficiency and complement the car’s dramatic silhouette. The 21″ rims are only available on the E-Tense 4×4 360 variant of the DS 7.
Inside, the DS 7 can optioned with Basalt Black or Pearl Grey Nappa leather for the ‘Opera’ trim level. There’s a new ‘draped’ effect on the Nappa leather trim on the dashboard and door panels. DS has removed seams and joins for a more natural look.
On the ‘Performance’ line, a deeper black Alcantara upholstery can be optioned with Gold and Carmine touches. Lower trim levels come with DS Canvas and a Basalt Black grain inspired by fish skin.
Inside, there’s now the ‘DS IRIS’ system for the infotainment with natural voice recognition, a 12″ high-resolution display and more. New digital cameras provide better views of the front and rear when parking. a new 12″ digital instrument cluster is also present with new graphics.
