Honda Motorcycle Thailand Partners Up With Foodpanda

Will we see a similar collaboration here?

Honda Motorcycle Thailand (Thai Honda Co., Ltd.) has announced that it is joining forces with popular food delivery platform Foodpanda to develop an EV ecosystem in the food delivery business in the country.

Under this strategic partnership, Foodpanda will be receiving 20 units of the Honda Benly e: electric scooters from Honda Motorcycle Thailand to take on food and grocery delivery duties in Bangkok.

To ensure that the Foodpanda rider partners are able to carry out their job without having to worry about range, Honda Motorcycle Thailand has also placed a total of 14 battery swapping stations throughout the capital.

However, it is unclear whether the stations are built by the company itself or provided by suppliers such as Gogoro, which has a huge presence in the region.

Shigeto Kimura, Chairman of Thai Honda Co., Ltd. said the partnership with Foodpanda is in line with Honda’s vision of reducing carbon emissions and creating a sustainable urban society.

“As the leader of the Thai motorcycle industry, we attach great importance to electric vehicle technology. Starting with the development of the EV Ecosystem in Thailand through research studies with various institutions, both public and private, this time, Honda has joined forces with a leading food delivery company like Foodpanda, which is another important step,” he added.

Launched in Japan back in April 2020, the Benly e: is powered by two Honda Mobile Power Pack (MPP) lithium-ion battery packs, which can be easily detached and swapped. Depending on variants, the electric scooter provides up to 87 km of range on a full charge.
