Here comes the urban adventure scooter for the city dwellers
Didi Group, the sole distributor of Aprilia bikes in Malaysia, has officially launched the new Aprilia SR GT for the local market. Available in base and Sport variants, the urban adventure scooter comes with an introductory price tag of RM19,900.
Power is provided by a 174 cc single-cylinder engine that belongs to the i-get family. It churns out 17.4 hp (13 kW) at 8,500 rpm and 16.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, which is transferred to the rear wheel via a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The engine meets the stringent Euro 5 emissions regulations and is equipped with a Start & Stop system, which should help increase fuel efficiency in stop-and-go traffic. Speaking of which, the fuel is stored in a generous 9-litre fuel tank that is capable of providing a range of approximately 350 km.
As for the bike itself, the SR GT measures 1,920 mm long and 765 mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 1,350 mm. The seat is set at 799 mm from the ground.
Chassis-wise, it uses a double-cradle steel tube frame that is combined with a hydraulic telescopic fork up front and a double shock absorber with adjustable preload. The former provides 120 mm of travel, while the latter 102 mm.
The braking system comprises a 260 mm disc up front and a 220 mm disc at the rear, while the alloy wheels – measuring 14 inches at the front and 13 inches at the rear – are shod with all-terrain tyres with a slightly knobby tread. ABS is present at the front only.
Elsewhere, the SR GT features full LED three-element light cluster as well as a double fairing bodywork that has a clear enduro influence. There’s also a fully digital LCD instrument panel that provides all vehicle data and a wide range of travel information. That being said, the Aprilia MIA connectivity system is optional.
Finally, there are six colour choices for the SR GT, three for the base variant (Aprilia Black, Infinity Blue and Street Grey) and three for the Sport (Street Gold, Red Raceway and Iridium Grey).
