The Lotus Emira GT4 debuts with more performance for the track.
Last year, Lotus delighted enthusiasts with the new Emira, which replaced the company’s ageing sportscar fleet (Elise, Exige and Evora). Now Lotus says they’re building a high-performance race-ready version of their new car called the Emira GT4. This model is the first to come out of the Lotus Advanced Performance division. It also involved RML Group in the development of this vehicle.
The Lotus Emira GT4 was unveiled at the Hethel test track and was designed to herald Lotus’ return to the world of motorsport, which is a key pillar of the company’s global transformation plan. The Lotus Emira GT4’s order books have been opened since last September and the first year of production has already been sold out.
The Emira GT4 is a homologated performance machine, hand-built with lightweight motorsport components and equipment. The vehicle is powered by a supercharged 3.5L V6 petrol engine which revs to 7,200rpm and produces 400 bhp. This is the familiar and race-proven Toyota motor that Lotus has been using for some time now.
The GT4’s aerodynamics have been reworked for better high-speed stability with many hundreds of hours of validation work being carried out on the test track. It will continue to be developed over winter at Portimão in Portugal for aero performance and component reliability.
Here’s a look at the Emira GT4’s spec sheet.
