The 2023 Honda Civic Type R is shaping up to be quite the performance-packed machine.
Almost two years have gone passed since the Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition set a front-wheel drive lap record around the Suzuka Circuit of 2 minutes and 23.993 seconds. This version was stripped down in weight by 47kg and upgraded steering and suspension components.
This week, the next-generation Civic Type R managed to break that lap record with a time of just 2 minutes and 23.120 seconds! And this isn’t even a lightened version of the car.
The upcoming Civic Type R is based on the 11th generation Honda Civic Hatchback. It will unveiled in Q3 2022. Although details are unconfirmed, it will most likely sport a 2-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.
