Good news for our Malaysian economy as Porsche AG invests in Malaysia to start local assembly of their super popular model, the Cayenne SUV.
We have just been informed that the official launch for the start of vehicle assembly in Malaysia will be on the 28th of March 2022.
News of the start of Porsche Cayenne SUV local assembly first emerged in early 2021 when a few online news outlets shared the information.
The Porsche brand in Malaysia is handled by Sime Darby Auto Performance Sdn Bhd (SDAP), and some time in late Auguat 2021 they confirmed that the Cayenne SUV was to be the vehicle for local assembly in Kulim, Kedah.
Sime Darby Motors has been a partner of choice for Porsche in Malaysia for the last 11 years, representing Porsche as its exclusive distributor and retailer for the sports car brand.
Porsche AG is partnering with Inokom Corp Sdn Bhd which happen to be a subsidiary of Sime Darby Motors to set up this brand new assembly plant in Kulim, Kedah.

“The assembly portfolio is a key element in our growth strategy, and we are pleased to extend our relationship with Porsche from retail and distribution to include assembly,” he added.
“Malaysia and the whole ASEAN is a region of great potential and we look forward to the first locally assembled models reaching our Malaysian customers next year,” said Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG.
