The all-new Honda Civic arrives in Malaysia in three variants.
Honda Malaysia introduced the all-new, 11th generation Honda Civic today at an event in MITEC. As expected, the all-new Honda Civic will be locally assembled at the company’s plant in Pegoh, Melaka. Honda Malaysia has already collected 1,200 bookings since the car was first announced for our market and they expect to sell about 900 units per month. Three variants of the Honda Civic are available, the Civic 1.5 E, Civic 1.5 V and Civic 1.5 RS. Equipment spread and pricing (OTR without insurance, with ongoing SST exemption) is as follows:

All three variants use the same 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder motor and continuously variable transmission. This 1.5L turbo engine has received a new turbocharger for a small boost in power, along with revisions to its crankshaft and oil pan for better NVH characteristics.
The engine now outputs 182PS at 6,000rpm and 240Nm of torque between 1,700rpm and 4,500rpm. The gearbox gets new clever new programming that can change its shift pattern when it detects the driver is on a track based on how hard the car is being driven. The new gearbox programming also simulated downshifts before braking and has improved an torque converter. The 1.8L i-VTEC engine from the outgoing Civic has been discontinued, as 60% of sales of the previous model consisted of the 1.5L turbo engine.
Honda Sensing is now standard on the Civic with a new 100-degree wide front camera and use of the front sonar sensors instead of the millimetre wave radar. Honda Sensing includes:
- Forward Collision Warning
- Collission Mitigation Braking System
- Lane Departure Warning
- Road Departure Mitigation
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow
- Auto High Beam
- Lane Keep Assist System
- Lead Car Departure Notifcation System (new)
New to the Honda Civic V and RS is a Drive Mode Selector. This allows the driver to switch between ECON, Normal and Sport modes. This selector replaces the “Econ” button and “S” mode selector on the gear selector found on the outgoing model. The new CIvic is also slightly wider and longer, with a longer wheelbase too. The rear seats have been reclined just slightly for better rear occupant comfort.
A big emphasis was put in improving body rigidity and NVH at lower speeds in this generation. Honda claims 20% reduction in harsh shock noise versus the last generation. The design is also a lot less radical than before and has a mass appeal factor about it without sacrificing the Civic’s traditionally sporty styling. To achieve this new design, new production techniques like laser brazing along the roof and side panels and more had to be employed. This enabled Honda to create a minimalist look with fewer lines and thinner panel gaps.
Just like the City Hatchback, two new colours are being introduced for the Civic in Malaysia – Meteroid Grey Metallic and Ignite Red Metallic. These are joined by the familiar Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl to make 5 colour options for the new Civic in Malaysia. A set of optional Modulo accessories are also available.
Honda Connect will also be available in the Civic V and Civic RS, enabling remote smartphone connectivity through the app and various safety, security and convenience features available.
