Santa Claus Bakes Christmas Cookies With An AMG

It looks like an AMG engine delivers more than just horsepower. It is also a great oven for baking and cooking.

50 plus years ago, the motorsport world was introduced to the 300 SEL 6.8 AMG

As one of the oldest car brands, Mercedes-Benz has many legendary cars in its stable, but none is quite like the 300 SEL 6.8 AMG a.k.a. Red Pig, which was responsible for putting the Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach brand on the global stage after winning the 1971 24 Hours of Spa.

In case you were wondering.

The limited edition consists of one Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, one Mercedes-AMG GT3 (model year 2016) and the current evolution version of the Mercedes-AMG GT3. All three race cars are ready-to-race one-offs with special characteristics and unique features.

Characteristic is the livery that recalls the iconic looks of the 300 SEL 6.8 AMG from 50 years ago. Next to the red basic colour, the surfaces for starting numbers and sponsors have been unmistakably inspired by the race participation at Spa at the time.

The extras in the interior include, among others, a finish in Graphite Metallic Matt and an instrument panel in carbon. On this panel, there is an anniversary plaque with the original signature of AMG founder Hans Werner Aufrecht.

Technically, the special editions are real exceptions, too: for instance, the performance exhaust system allows for sound to be enjoyed to the maximum. The AMG 6.3 litre V8 atmospheric engine can unleash its full power level of 478 kW (650 hp) without an air restrictor. Delivery is without FIA homologation.

However as the worlds turns to electric powered cars.

The future of Mercedes-AMG is turning electric. In order to ensure a combination of high efficiency and improved driving dynamics, developers at Affalterbach are working on innovative technologies to take performance to a new level.

One of those developments is the electric exhaust gas turbocharger, which will be deployed on the next Mercedes-AMG vehicle generation and features technology developed on the track in Formula One. It’s already in the final development stages and in the future will be used in a series production model from Affalterbach.

Developed in partnership with Garrett Motion, the technology comes straight from Formula One, resolving the conflict between having a smaller turbocharger that reacts faster but achieves relatively low peak performance, and a larger turbocharger with higher peak performance that suffers from turbo lag.

So, this is the last video of its kind as you cannot bake cookies in an electric powered AMG or any other battery powered car.

Meanwhile, in case you were wondering, the electronically-controlled electric motor drives the compressor wheel before it accepts the exhaust gas flow. The electrification of the turbocharger significantly improves immediate response from idle speed and across the entire engine speed range, while also eliminating turbo lag.

Therefore, the combustion engine responds faster to accelerator pedal input and provides a more dynamic driving feel. It also enables higher torque at low engine speeds, which enhances agility and acceleration from a standstill.
