Now is the best time to clear all of your unpaid summons
In conjunction with the ‘100 Days of Keluarga Malaysia Aspirations’ event, which will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from 9 to 12 December 2021, Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) will be offering discounts to traffic offenders to settle their outstanding summons.
According to the police’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), an 80 percent discount will be offered for summonses issued in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, while for other states, a discount of up to 70 percent will be given.
The discounts are applicable to all types of offenses except the ones listed below:
- Accident summons in 2021
- Non-compoundable summons
- Summons that require court hearing
- Summons for matters related to lorries
- Summons for overtaking in a dangerous manner in 2021
- Summons for driving on emergency lane in 2021
- Summons for running red lights in 2021
- Summons for overtaking on a double line in 2021
- Summons for illegally modified exhausts
A payment counter will be opened at KLCC from 9 to 12 December, from 9 am to 6 pm. This offer is valid at the location and date stated above and is subject to terms and conditions.
This is a great initiative to reduce the burden of the people but instead of asking them to come in droves to settle their outstanding summonses, wouldn’t it be safer to offer this online? Of course, there will be SOPs in place and only those who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to go in but large crowds in an enclosed space like KLCC is too big of a risk especially with the recent discovery of the Omicron variant.
