0All-New 2022 Suzuki Celerio Launched In India
The Suzuki Celerio gets a full model change in India.
India has a few national car brands, but one of the most popular brands in the subcontinent is Suzuki through their collaboration with Maruti. This market is extremely value-oriented, and small Japanese-engineered hatchbacks tend to do well, especially when they have a razor-sharp focus on fuel efficiency and value-for-money.
The Suzuki Celerio is one model that does these aspects well and now it’s getting a full model change for the first time since its debut in 2014. The first model apparently suffered from a poor reputation for safety.
The 2nd generation Suzuki Celerio addresses that and offers more technology, equipment and more modern styling too. The new car is now built on the HEARTECT platform, the same one that underpins the current Suzuki Swift Sport. This chassis improves crash protection and has much higher rigidity thanks to the use of high tensile steel.
While the Celerio is a budget-oriented vehicle, Suzuki has now added a number of features to improve its appeal. The first is Hill Hold Assist, which makes it the first in its segment to benefit from such a feature.
The new Celerio also comes with 15″ black-painted alloy wheels, front fog lamps, a 7″ infotainment system with smartphone navigation, push-to-start button with a smart key, a pollen filter for the air conditioning system, steering tilt adjustment, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, 60:40 split rear seats and a height-adjustable driver seat.
Powering the 2nd generation Suzuki Celerio is a 1.0L K-Series engine with Dual Jet and Dual VVT pushing out 67PS @ 5500rpm and 89Nm of torque @ 3500rpm. The engine has been improved with a cooled EGR, auto tensioner and an integrated exhaust manifold. Suzuki claims that the Celerio is the most efficient petrol car in India with a rating of 26.68km/l. This new Celerio has 19% lower CO2 emissions too. It comes with an Idle Start-Stop system. An automated manual transmission is available with a 5-speed manual as standard.
Besides those changes, the new Celerio has larger cabin with more shoulder and leg room and a larger trunk thanks to a longer wheelbase and the new platform. It is available in 6 colours:
- Solid Fire Red (New)
- Speedy Blue (New)
- Arctic White
- Silky Silver
- Glistening Grey
- Caffeine Brown
