The TMAX gets a bigger engine and even more tech
Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has recently launched the new Yamaha TMAX 560, which belongs to the company’s Big Bike range. The maxi scooter is priced at RM72,288 (excluding insurance and registration) and every purchase comes with a Royal Selangor key pouch and a brake disc lock.
Developed for navigating busy city streets and long-distance excursions, the TMAX 560 is powered by a 562 cc parallel-twin engine with a healthy output of 47 hp (35 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 55.7 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm. Power is routed to the rear wheel via a V-belt automatic transmission. A 15-litre fuel tank promises ample range between refuelling.
Chassis-wise, the model features a lightweight die-cast aluminium twin-spar frame mated with a 41 mm upside-down front fork and a link-type rear suspension. It rides on 15-inch wheels wrapped in 120/70 front and 160/60 rear tubeless tyres.
Creature comforts include a monotone TFT instrument panel with a central display that includes an odometer, trip meters, and indicator lights for the Traction Control and D-Mode systems, an adjustable windscreen with a maximum height of 135 mm, a spacious under-seat compartment space, heated grips and seats, as well as a Smart Key system.
On the electronics front, the TMAX 560 is equipped with Cruise Control, dual-channel ABS and the aforementioned Traction Control and D-Mode systems. The latter offers the rider the option of choosing from two riding modes – one for urban riding and the other for the open road.
The new TMAX 560 is offered in two colours, namely Tech Kamo and Power Grey. It is now available at all Yamaha Big Bike dealerships nationwide.

On a side note, HLYM has also confirmed it will be launching the new Yamaha MT-09 and Tracer 9 GT, both powered by a 889 cc, three-cylinder Crossplane engine. Pricing will be announced on 21 November 2021.
