Expect it to arrive in Malaysia sometime next year
The first episode of the Ducati World Première 2022 web series that was aired a few days ago saw the unveiling of the the all-new Ducati Multistrada V2. Taking over from the 950 as the entry level offering in the Multistrada family, the new model arrives with better ergonomics and weight reduction, updated engine as well as other upgrades.
Powering the Multistrada V2 is the latest version of the 937 cc Testastretta 11° L-twin unit, which makes 113 hp at 9,000 rpm and 96 Nm of torque at 7,750 rpm. The engine has extended maintenance intervals, with oil change every 15,000 km and valve clearance check every 30,000 km.
Engine upgrades include new connecting rods, new 8-disc hydraulic clutch and an updated gearbox, which Ducati claims is more fluid and precise, and can help to facilitate the engagement of neutral.
In terms of ergonomics, some key elements have been redesigned in order to make the bike even more accessible. These include the seat, which has been reshaped and positioned lower at 830 mm, making it easier for riders to place their feet on the ground when stationary. The seat height can be further reduced to 790 mm by opting for the available low saddle and lowered suspension kit.
Speaking of suspension, the base Multistrada V2 is equipped with a 48 mm upside-down KYB front fork and a rear Sachs shock absorber with remote spring preload adjustment, while the S version gets the Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO semi-active suspension system.
Both versions come with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear aluminium wheels, which are the same as those of the Multistrada V4. For tyres, Ducati opts for the versatile Pirelli Scorpion Trail II, in 120/70 ZR19 at the front and 170/60 ZR17 at the rear.
As mentioned, weight saving was also one of the key areas of improvement. Compared to Multistrada 950, the V2 is 5 kg lighter with a final dry weight of 199 kg (202 kg for the S). The engine itself has lost about 2 kg, while various parts of the bike have also been lightened, including the mirrors, the front brake disc flanges and the rims.
Elsewhere, the Multistrada V2 comes standard with ABS Cornering, Vehicle Hold Control, Ducati Traction Control and four riding modes, namely Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro. There’s also the new Ducati Brake Light system, which automatically flashes the rear light in the event of sudden braking.
Meanwhile, the V2 S adds Cruise Control, full-LED headlight with Ducati Cornering Lights function, up/down Quickshifter, Hands Free system and a 5-inch colour TFT dashboard with intuitive interface and backlight handlebar controls.
