This latest Tucson will be priced to compete with the rivals.
Insiders at Sime Darby Motors have confirmed that this all new 4th generation Hyundai Tucson SUV will be arriving as a local assembled vehicle to get a selling price that will compete very closely with its immediate rivals.
Presently only the popular Hyundai Santa Fe SUV is being local assembled in Malaysia with the rest of the Hyundai line-up coming in fully imported to Malaysia.
This all-new Tucson is an important launch for Hyundai as the model is among its most popular, racking up global sales of more than 7 million units since its original launch in 2004.
Hyundai expects the new model to attract even more customers with its cutting-edge design, roominess, class-leading digital capabilities, dynamic ride and excellent fuel efficiency.
This all new Tucson offers both Smartstream™ 2.5-liter, direct-injected, four-cylinder, petrol powertrain and the powerful 1.6-liter, turbo, direct-injected, hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains.
The 2.5-liter engine has an estimated output of 190 PS and an estimated torque rating of 247 Nm This engine is coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission for excellent efficiency and acceleration.
The 1.6-liter hybrid powertrain produces an estimated 180 PS, with a combined powertrain output of 230 PS. It also produces 265 Nm of torque from the petrol engine and 350 Nm of torque from the combined hybrid powertrain. This new powertrain uses Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology that manages valve opening duration for optimal power, efficiency and emissions with minimized compromise.
The soon to arrive other new models will be built in Indonesia at the all new Hyundai manufacturing plant which will deliver Korean quality vehicles. In November 2019 Hyundai Motor Company announced that it had entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Indonesian government to build its first manufacturing plant in the country.
The company’s decision to invest in Indonesia was to support its growth into new ASEAN markets, securing future growth engines to help the business combat slowing demand in the global automotive market.
The state-of-the-art manufacturing plant is located on an 8.35 million-square-foot site in Kota Deltamas (City of Deltamas), an integrated industrial, commercial and residential district in the eastern outskirts of Jakarta, capital of the fourth-most-populous-nation in the world.
When the brand new state of the art Hyundai factory in Singapore is ready for production, the new range of Hyundai fully electric vehicles will be rolling into Malaysian showrooms to reach a new generation of car owners. This was announced in October 2020.
Hyundai in Malaysia is getting ready for this new ‘charge’ by upgrading their current showrooms and moving a few non-performing dealers away and replacing them with new eager car dealers that want a slice of the ‘new’ Hyundai line-up of exciting and advanced vehicles that will be coming from Indonesia and also Singapore.
