The Bentley Continental GT Speed gets a little Akrapovič excitement.
The Bentley Continental GT Speed is probably one of the most over-the-top cars in production today. Most super-premium cars are either all about performance or all about luxury. This one is about both in equal measure. And there’s a convertible version too.
As if Bentley engineers hadn’t already done enough, they’re now giving customers the option to purchase the car with a lightweight Akrapovič titanium sport exhaust system.
The new Akrapovič exhaust is made at the company’s titanium foundry and combines titanium with other super alloys to bring the overall exhaust system weight down by 7 kilograms. This lower weight is the first performance benefit. It’s also a more free-breathing exhaust system, which improves the throttle response of the Continental GT Speed. There’s lower system back-pressure too for better turbocharger performance.
In terms of aesthetics, the Akrapovič exhaust looks a lot different to the standard Bentley exhaust. Its quad oval tailpipes have been given a matte finish with branding from both Akrapovič and Bentley on the tips. The exterior of the tailpipe has been sandblasted and then coated for a uniform surface finish for better durability and scratch resistance.
Previous Bentley Collaborations with Akrapovič
This isn’t the first time Bentley is offering a vehicle with an Akrapovič exhaust system. Back in 2014, the limited edition Bentley Continental GT3-R featured a titanium exhaust made by Akrapovič. Prior to that, in 2012, Bentley themselves offered an in-house sports exhaust system for the first time. This was offered on the 2nd generation Bentley Continental GT V8 S.
