Mitsubishi Triton Ralliart Edition Might Come One Day

Will the current generation Mitsubishi Triton get a proper Ralliart Edition?

The current Mitsubishi Triton is proving to be quite a popular truck in its segment despite being around for more than 2 years. This is quite impressive considering the presence of the all-new Isuzu D-Max, facelifted Nissan Navara and thoroughly updated Toyota Hilux. Mitsubishi are keen to keep this product fresh and desirable in the eyes of fans for longer. As such, they’re rumoured to introduce a Ralliart version of the Triton.

Why is a Triton Ralliart Edition Necessary?

Since Ford debuted the Ranger Wildtrak, Japanese pick-up truck makers have been scrambling to produce a similar type of flagship product. We eventually got a Toyota Hilux Rogue, a Nissan Navara Pro 4X and a Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain. However, Mitsubishi’s Triton VGT Adventure hasn’t quite stacked up against these separate flagship products.

Earlier this year, Mitsubishi Motors confirmed that they’d be restarting their Ralliart division and it made sense that one of the first products that will come out of it is an upgraded version of their Triton. Anyone who thought the Ralliart division was being revived to take on World Rally Championship dominating Toyota and Hyundai has to think again.

If it’s introduced on the current generation of Triton though, any Triton Ralliart edition is probably going to be presented as a set of new decals along with some minor equipment upgrades. However, it’s also important to note that this Triton is based on an aging platform that will be replaced by a new generation model riding on the Nissan Navarra platform.

When that all-new Mitsubishi Triton is shown, we could expect to see a more all-out Triton Ralliart Edition with proper engineering work put into it.

According to Carsales.com.au, the Mitsubishi Australia is going to skip any half-past-six Ralliart Edition and probably go in for a proper Ralliart Edition done by Team Mitsubishi Ralliart – a Melbourne-based outfit. This doesn’t seem unlikely. After all, both flagship versions of the Navara and Hilux were developed and tested in Australia and produced in Thailand. It wouldn’t be a stretch for Mitsubishi to employ a similar tactic for theirs.
