Pictures of this Boyue X has been circulating on social media for the past few days.
A few days ago, Geely Automobile officially announced that its popular Boyue SUV will be updated, more than just a facelift.
The Geely Boyue is also the joint venture rebadged Proton X70 which has launched in Malaysia three years in late 2018. By February 2020 the local assembled X70 arrived in Proton showrooms nationwide and since it has been selling very well.
Called the Boyue X, this revised segment favorite SUV will debut at the coming Chengdu Auto Show. The Boyue X will also showcase Geely Automobile’s new design language.
Looking very much like a Mitsubishi design (see picture of 2020 model ASX below), this Boyue X will arrive as a new version Proton X70 probably in the later part of 2022.
The Boyue X comes with a front face of the new car adopts an ‘X shaped design. The large-mouth intake grille is decorated with a radial structure similar to that of the black Geely logo, which has a very visual impact. The shape of the headlights on both sides is the same as that of Boyue Pro. LED lights are used inside and it is equipped with daytime running lights.
The side shape is basically the same as the Boyue Pro (which was launched in the Philippines as the Azkarra), and the through-type waistline makes the visual effect look slender and magnificent.
Moving around to the rear you see its light treatment has changed little and connected by a penetrating chrome strip in between, which effectively stretches the horizontal visual width of the tail. The tailgate design remains almost as before.
Now, on the side profile of this Boyue X, you can see the lines of the current Proton X70 and its dynamic shoulders remain as well.
Major changes can be seen onside the cabin. A brand new dashboard design and upgraded material colours brings the Boyue X into 2022 side by side with the European rivals. Bold seat colours and a bright coloured instrument cluster will have Chinese as well as Malaysian buyers very attracted to this new SUV. There is a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a full LCD instrument panel, an embedded central control screen and an electronic gear handle.
Under the revised bonnet there will be little changes the current powertrain will continue to be used. This is the 1.8T engine with a maximum power of 184 horsepower and a peak torque of 300Nm. It is matched with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
It will be interesting to see the response from Malaysians on this latest version of the Proton X70.
