BMW iX3 Just Got Its First Facelift, Here’s What’s New

The BMW iX3 has been around long enough to warrant a facelift.

It’s hard to believe, but the all-electric BMW iX3 is already 2 years old! It’s funny what a little pandemic can do to warp the perception of time in the automotive world. Given that the iX3 is part of the BMW X3 family, it only makes sense for the company to give it some updates as those SUVs just got a mid-cycle refresh recently.

The new iX3 comes as standard with the M Sport Package for a more aggressive look. Its taillights graphics have been refreshed. The kidney grille is now larger and is housed in a chromed single frame. They’ve also subtly slimmed down the headlights by 10mm. Lower down, the variable air intake on the lower bumper has grown in size. The air curtains are now blue and L-shaped.

Adaptive matrix LED headlights also come as standard with laser headlights optional. 19″ alloy wheels come standard, but 20″ M aerodynamic wheels are optional.

Inside, the infotainment unit has been revised with a 12.3″ touchscreen to match the 12.3″ digital instrument cluster.

The centre console has also been slightly revised with a new selector lever and new switchgear.

There’s also now an option for perforated leather seats.

Mechanically though, BMW has restrained from making any changes. It still has a single rear-mounted electric motor delivering 282hp and 400Nm of torque. This powertrain enables the BMW iX3 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. It also gives it a top speed of 180km/h.

These are hardly break-neck numbers, but the car is an SUV targetted at small families, so we’re not expecting too much either. The 80kWh battery delivers 460km of range and can be topped up with 100km or range with just a 10 minute 150kW DC charge.

The BMW iX3 M Sport is available in Carbon Black, Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, and Sophisto Grey. Black High Gloss exterior trim pieces are offered as standard. Inside, four colour finishes are available for the Vernasca leather.

There’s also a iX3 M Sport Pro model with the following features:

  • BMW Heads-Up Display
  • Harmon Kardon surround sound
  • Gesture Control
  • Parking Assistant Plus
  • darkened headlights
  • Automatic high beam assistant
  • Comfort access
  • Lumbar support
  • BMW IconicSounds Electric
