Ducati Honours Troy Bayliss With Limited Edition Panigale V2

Without a shadow of a doubt, these will be snapped up quickly by Ducatistis around the world

Some 20 years ago, Troy Bayliss grabbed the first of his three World Superbike Championships on a Ducati 996 R. To celebrate this anniversary, Ducati has introduced a limited-run Panigale V2 model called the ‘Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary’.

Similar to the bike that helped the Australian clinch his first WSBK title, the Panigale V2 Bayliss dons a red/white/green livery, which is coincidentally the colours of the Italian flag. Bayliss’ race number #21 are found on the sides and front, while his signature is immortalised on the fuel tank. Stamped onto the billet aluminium triple clamp is the bike’s production number.

Beyond the cosmetic changes, the Panigale V2 Bayliss is also equipped with Ohlins’ NX30 front forks and TTX36 rear shock absorbers which, according to Ducati, makes the bike even more effective in track riding. There’s also a steering damper that can be customised based on riding style and the characteristics of the track.

This model is also 3 kg lighter compared to the standard version, thanks to the adoption of a lithium-ion battery and a single-seater configuration. That being said, Ducati will still provide the passenger seat and footrests.

Other fitted equipment includes sport grips, carbon fibre and titanium silencer outlet cover, as well as self-cleaning brake and clutch pumps with smoke grey oil tanks.

Elsewhere, it’s pretty much the same as the standard version. This means power still comes from a 955 cc Superquadro twin-cylinder engine that makes 155 hp at 10,750 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. The electronic package includes Bosch ABS Cornering, Quick Shift, Traction Control, Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control, three riding modes and a 4.3-inch TFT display.

According to Ducati, the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary starts from US$21,000 (RM88,756) in the US.
