7th Gen BMW 7 Series Rendered With Split Headlights

This is how this the next BMW 7 Series Might look, according to one render artist.

Just the other day, we came upon a rendering of the upcoming 7th generation BMW 7 Series on Instagram by user BMW43_. The render combines the split headlight design, a single piece grille that’s split horizontally with glossy elements in the top half of the car. It’s not completely unfounded either, as there are spyshots that suggest this is the direction that BMW will indeed take for the next luxury full-sized sedan.

The new look starkly contrasts what’s currently on offer. It may not be for everyone, but it’s certainly eye-catching. The grille is of course getting wider and wider, practically taking up more width than the headlights.

In white, the details are a bit more clear. We see black inserts on the lower bumper and vertical bars in the grille finished in black. The split headlights seem to put daytime running lights in both clusters with the turn signals on the top section and the main beams in the bottom half.

The render is a little bit low resolution and conservative, particularly with the angles on the doors, but there’s a real chance BMW will be going in this direction.

From the rear, the taillights of the sedan now adopt the long, slim look of the BMW coupé models. The quad rear tailpipe finishers are quite interesting too.

About the 7th gen 7 Series

The BMW 7 Series used to be the flagship of the stable, but not even Munich can withstand the call of SUVs. During the production cycle of this current 6th generation 7 Series, BMW introduced the X7 – a vehicle that was larger, more expensive and more versatile than the 7 Series. There were also strong indications as far back as 2019 that they will introduce a BMW X8 before the end of 2020.

That means that the upcoming 7th generation BMW 7 Series is going to be the first 7 Series to not be launched as the most expensive passenger car from the brand. The 6th generation model at least was launcehd before the appearance of the X7.

Spyshots of the upcoming X8 and 7 Series show that the two are probably going to adopt some sort of split level headlight design.
