New Honda Civic Sedan Now In US Dealerships

There’s a lot of anticipation around the new 11th generation Honda Civic, which was globally launched in April. In almost every market but Japan, the outgoing Civic Sedan model was an extremely successful one. It offered a turbocharged engine with a substantive amount of torque and it had attention-grabbing looks. The expectations are high for its successor, which now arrives in dealerships around the United States.

We know there are a lot of Malaysian Honda Civic fans, so we’ll give you a quick rundown of the American Civic and how it’s being equipped.

The 2022 Civic will start at US$21,700. That’s actually a little lower than the outgoing model, which had prices starting at US$24,940. Here’s what the Civic variants will look like in the US:

Both engines are carried forward from the previous generation car with improvements. The turbo now has exhaust side VTEC, and 6 more horsepower than before.

In Malaysia, our basic Civic is powered by a R18 1.8-litre engine instead of the K20 2.0-litre. As of its launch, no manual transmission is available and the CVT is the only way to go. Honda has confirmed that these sedan variants will be followed by a Civic Hatchback, as well as an “Si” and Type R.

The most interesting thing about the new Honda Civic is that it comes with a huge list of equipment. STANDARD on all Civic sedan models is Honda Sensing, a rear seat belt reminder and rear seat occupant reminder are also standard. Another standard item is the 7″ touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, push-to-start button, partial digital instrument cluster and LED headlights.

Other variants, like the Civic Sport add 18″ wheels, low profile tyres, black exterior accents, a chrome exhaust tip, 8-speaker audio, upgraded upholstery, paddle shifters, sport pedals and a Sports mode driver profile.

Stepping up to the EX model not only gives you the 1.5 turbo with 180hp and 240Nm of torque, but it also adds equipment. This model has blind spot detection, a sliding moonroof, heated seats, heated side mirrors, as well as dual auto climate control.

Finally, there’s the Civic Touring model. This is the US equivalent to our Civic Turbo 1.5 TC-P, but it’s got a lot more equipment than we do. It’s also specced for US customers and market realities. It adds to the EX model leather seats, powered front seats, Siriux XM radio, built-in navigation, 9″ infotainment unit with Wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, Bose premium sound, 10.2″ fully digital instrument cluster, parking sensors (front and rear), a Qi charging pad, and the “all-important” LED foglights amongst other things.
