You got to wait for a few months to get this new GLA in your garage.
Salespeople at all Malaysian Mercedes-Benz showrooms are having to apologies to possible customers who have been coming in day after day wanting to drive home a brand new GLA Crossover after reading about it in www.dsf.my and many other social media automotive platforms.
The popularity of this all new premium crossover and the recently launched Mercedes AgileCare program has many upper middle class Malaysians eager to trade up to this larger and more well equipped GLA.
Launched just a few months ago on December 15th 2020, this new GLA arrived in two variants and both were fully imported from. There is the GLA 200 Progressive Line at RM252,888.00 which carries a fuel sipping 1.3L turbocharged engine mated to the 7G-DCT dual-clutch gearbox and the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with an eight speed gearbox GLA 250 AMG Line at RM295,888.00.
Deliveries of the next batch of this 2021 GLA crossover will start this June or July and back orders are piling up with all dealers nationwide.
This new GLA comes equipped with a new four-cylinder engine with numerous efficiency-enhancing measures. These include CAMTRONIC variable valve train, intelligent thermal management for coolant and oil, high-precision piezo injectors and multi-spark ignition. In production, the patented CONICSHAPE® cylinder honing reduces in-engine friction and also increases efficiency.
This new GLA is even more distinctive than its predecessor which was launched in 2013 as a premium crossover that carried a design language of the A-Class hot hatch. Then in 2017 there was a facelift to compliment the success of the A-Class facelift and Malaysians with enough funds in the bank account wanted the GLA over the A-Class. The age of the crossover had taken a new step forward.
Now this latest 2020 model GLA is standing higher by more than ten centimetres at 1,611 millimetres (1,616 mm with roof rail), offering more headroom in the first row. Rear legroom is also significantly greater. Although shorter on the outside than the outgoing model, the new GLA is more spacious on the inside. Typical off-road design elements are the upright front end, the short front and rear overhangs and the protective cladding running all the way round.
With powerful and efficient four-cylinder engines, the latest driving assistance systems with cooperative driver support, the MBUX infotainment system with intuitive operation as well as the comprehensive ENERGIZING comfort control, the new model has all the strengths of the current generation of compacts from Mercedes-Benz.
The new GLA combines the best from the two highest-volume segments, the compact cars and the SUVs. The SUVs are a major structural pillar in the Mercedes-Benz product portfolio and now represent the highest-volume segment for Mercedes-Benz. To date, more than six and a half million customers around the world have opted for a Mercedes-Benz SUV.
