Ford today announced that July sales were an all-time monthly record in Malaysia – besting its previous record performance in June – with overall retail sales that jumped 60 percent year-over-year to 1,390 units. The record month was driven by continuing strong demand for the popular Ranger, Fiesta and Kuga nameplates and an expanding Ford showroom in Malaysia.
July retail sales of the class-defining Ranger pickup soared 115 percent year-over-year in July to 868 units – its best-ever monthly performance in Malaysia. Year-to-date, Ranger is the second-best-selling pickup truck in Malaysia, with sales up 53 percent to 4,535 units.
The full Ranger line-up features an unmatched safety package in Malaysia, and is now equipped with additional active and passive safety features, including Ford’s Electronic Stability Program (ESP) across all variants and ISOFIX mounts for child seats in the Wildtrak, as well as all XLT and XL Double Cab variants.
The new Fiesta delivered July retail sales that surged 158 percent year-over-year to 347 units, boosted by strong demand for Ford’s high-performance 1.0L EcoBoost engine. The 1.0L EcoBoost engine, which was recently named International Engine of the Year for the third consecutive year, delivers class-leading power and fuel efficiency in Malaysia. The stylish all-new Kuga SUV also contributed to the record monthly performance with July sales of 102 units, bringing its year-to-date total to 580 units.
Ford’s overall year-to-date sales have now risen 30 percent to 7,910 units. The all-new EcoSport compact urban SUV will help to define a whole new vehicle segment in Malaysia. An aspirational alternative to the compact car, the EcoSport’s blend of versatility and smart connectivity will appeal to customers who live their urban lives to the fullest and love exploring the world outside the city.
