Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Premieres In 4 Variants

Porsche have launched a new body style of the electric Taycan and it’s called the Taycan Cross Turismo.

Porsche has put itself on the map when it comes to electric mobility with the Taycan. For the first time, a legacy carmaker is being spoken of in the same breath as Tesla, and that is something to be commended. Of course, it took a brand as strong and desirable as Porsche to finally bring a challenge to the young American startup, but Stuttgart isn’t done yet. Today they revealed a 5-door wagon variant of the Taycan, which has been hinted at since at least 2018.

Unlike the wagon variant of the Panamera, (called the Panamera Sport Turismo), Porsche have decided to give the Taycan wagon a bit of a rugged crossover character. As such, it gets a different name – Taycan Cross Turismo. This rugged character is seen mostly in the use of plastic underbody cladding and optional roof rails. All-wheel drive is standard too, and that may also influence the decision to market it this way. An accompanying electric bike was also launched alongside the Taycan Cross Turismo.

Also, the Taycan Cross Turismo is fitted with a Gravel model that firms up the suspension, increases the ride height by 10mm, and specially-programmes the traction and stability control to maximise grip over loose surfaces. That being said, Porsche is saying it wasn’t designed to do hardcore off-roading of any kind.

The top of the line Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo does 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds, just 0.1 seconds slower than the equivalent sedan, the Taycan Turbo S. Performance is clearly not a noticeable sacrifice. What you do get is a taller ride height (by 20mm), revised fascias and sideskirts, improved passenger headroom, and greater cargo and interior space as well as better standard equipment.

There are 4 variants planned of the Taycan Cross Turismo:

  • Taycan 4 Cross Turismo
  • Taycan 4S Cross Turismo (pictured in white)
  • Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo
  • Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo (pictured in green)

Every variant comes with the following features as standard:

  • Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management
  • air suspension
  • Performance Battery Plus with its 800-volt architecture
  • adaptive aerodynamics
  • panoramic glass roof

Optional exclusively to the Taycan Cross Turismo:

  • Off Road Design Package (which adds an additional 10mm of ride height and even body cladding)
  • 20-inch Off Road Design wheels
  • 21-inch Cross Turismo Design wheels

Other optional features on all Taycan models include:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Active Lane Keep (ALK)
  • Active Parking Support
