Fuji, Japan, July 25, 2014 – Qualifying for the Japan stop of the Audi R8 LMS Cup got underway today. Former Macau GP winner André Couto posted the fastest lap time with 1’43.217 at the Fuji International Speedway. This means he will line up first on the grid for Saturday’s Round 3. 2012 champion, Marchy Lee (1’43.907), and former Formula 1 driver, Alex Yoong (1’43.955), will start from second and third position respectively. Japanese star actor and driver Koichi Iwaki was hampered by a mechanical problem during qualifying. As his lap times during free practice were 10 seconds inside the qualification criteria, he can still compete in Round 3.
