The phrase ‘sustainable adventuring’ is rarely used in the automotive industry, but that could change soon with Nissan’s e-NV200 Winter Camper concept van.
Developed specifically for winter expeditions, the Winter Camper boasts a higher ground clearance than the range-topping e-NV200 Evalia it’s based on thanks to a jacked-up ride height and oversize off-road tyres. Other off-road essentials such as steel bar, spot lights, mudguards, door-entry guards, side bars and rubber mats are also included.
The interior has been rebuilt to accommodate a functioning kitchen, a refrigerator as well as folding beds. A pop-up roof and insulated glass help in making the occupants feel as comfortable as possible. Powering the amenities is an onboard 220-volt power pack that can be recharged with roof-mounted solar panels. That’s good because you can practically go anywhere without having to worry about running out of power.
We expect the Winter Camper concept van to carry the same electric powertrain as the standard e-NV200. That means there’s a 108-hp electric motor and a 40-kWh battery pack that offers a range of 200 km on a single charge.
PRESS RELEASE
Inspired by the exhilaration of wintertime exploration, Nissan today unveiled its vision for sustainable adventuring: the all-electric e-NV200 Winter Camper concept van.
Designed to maximize excitement while minimizing environmental impact, the e-NV200 Winter Camper combines the thrill of electric driving with the spirit of the wild. With a host of bespoke driving and lifestyle features, it’s primed to tackle tough terrains.
The custom Nissan Camper Technology Luxury Kit – available in Europe for the standard e-NV200 van and e-NV200 Evalia passenger van – maximizes comfort and versatility for self-sufficient living. Solar panels on the roof can recharge the onboard 220-volt power pack. The integrated kitchen, refrigerator, folding beds and insulated glass make life on the open road possible in any environment.
A series of tuning upgrades help the e-NV200 Winter Camper negotiate difficult road surfaces. Premium off-road tires and increased ride height provide optimum traction and ground clearance in mud or snow. Twin spotlights mounted on a reinforced steel bar at the front ensure maximum visibility.
Part of the Nissan Original Accessories range widely available in Europe, the van’s front and rear mudguards, door entry guards, side bars and rubber mats offer protection and convenience.
Based on the e-NV200 Evalia, the e-NV200 Winter Camper benefits from Nissan’s proven electric powertrain technology. The power unit provides optimized power and range, with instant torque and acceleration. The van’s energy-saving B-mode and Eco-mode deliver enhanced regenerative braking and more efficient power consumption, respectively.
“Electric mobility is all about offering an exciting experience behind the wheel, while above all remaining conscious of our impact on the environment,” said Dmitry Busurkin, divisional general manager for light commercial vehicles at Nissan Europe. “Imbued with the essence of adventure and thrilling electrified power, the Nissan e-NV200 Winter Camper concept van is an optimistic expression of the future of zero-emission mobility.”
