This is what we do
So, for the past week there has been too many mixed communications about fueling up your car at all Malaysian petrol stations. What to do, what you need to do and what must be done. With rulings changing by the hour in just one day, there was so much confusion and most online news media outlets, including us at www.dsf.my were confused and had to reword our article to suit the ‘fluid’ changes by the authorities.
So, we decided that we should share with you what we do every-time we go to fuel up at our regular fuel station. Right or not so right, this is what we do and we want to share our process with you and why we follow this routine.
First, we drive in and make sure the fuel pump is right next to our fuel cap. Easy access where possible.
Then we walk over to the fuel station glass door and ‘check In’ to MySejahtera using the APP which takes less than a minute and there is no need to enter the station unless we have to buy something inside.
Next we ‘wave’ our credit card at the petrol pump. Once the card is accepted we use our BHPetrol eCard reward points card to get our points.
Now here comes the tricky part. The petrol station owner sanitizes the pump handles and credit card keypad regularly, but not after each transaction (it is just too expensive and time consuming to do this) which means you do not know who was at the petrol pump before you and their movement history. This is why we feel that checking in at the MySejahtera APP which takes less than a minute is important.
After we finish filling up, we take a short walk to the tap and wash our hands. Get back to the pump, take our printed receipt and then use our own hand sanitizer gel before getting back on the road.
We do not see this process as being very difficult for motorists to do as you probably fill up fuel once a week and this process takes about 5-9 minutes depending on how much fuel you fill into your tank.
Also, we thoroughly clean all surfaces in the cabin of our car once a week and also the exterior door handles with a quality sanitizer gel.
