Is It Safe For Malaysians?

Well, there should be no question on the safety rating for the Proton X50 for one simple fact. It is a Crossover that has been co-developed by Volvo Cars of Sweden and this obviously means that it will have a high safety standard.

Built on Geely’s global B-Segment Modular Architecture (BMA), the Proton X50 sets new benchmark in configuration and technology for global crossover SUVs.

The BMA architecture is the latest global modular architecture independently developed by Geely with a high-degree of flexibility and scalability as well as the latest advancements in the fields of safety, connectivity, new energy, and autonomous driving. This architecture was created in collaboration with Volvo engineers. It has a front transverse arrangement of the power unit and 70 per cent of high-strength alloys in its composition.

The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) has recently assessed the new Proton X50. It is our pleasure to announce that the Proton X50 has successfully achieved 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating.

There are four airbags (front and side) provided for in the entry-level Standard variant and a total of six airbags (front, side, and curtain) in the remaining three versions of this Proton Crossover.

The Proton X50 Flagship variant which is the top model comes equipped with Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS), which adds a host of impressive safety features. One of the features is the Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) which was missing in the Proton X70 SUV.

This feature gives the X50 Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capability by providing partial acceleration, braking and steering assistance in certain driving conditions. It includes adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist and lane keeping assist.

PRESS RELEASE: Meanwhile, Proton management has just announced positive sales momentum carried over from August to September this year as the national automotive company posted a fourth consecutive month of positive year-on-year growth. With 11,935 units sold, the second highest for 2020, sales for September grew by 4.9% over August and 33.6% over the same month in 2019. Total sales for the year now stand at 73,607 units, 4.3% ahead of last year and equivalent to an estimated 21.6% market share, placing the company second in Malaysia’s automotive sales table.

Three PROTON models head sales in respective segments

Similar to August, three Proton models continue to lead sales in their respective classes. The Proton X70 continues to dominate the SUV market overall and posted its second best sales month of 2020 with 2,849 units sold. The Proton Persona and Proton Exora also remain as the best-selling models in their class with both models now expected to end the year as cumulative sales leaders.

“With Total-Industry-Volume (TIV) exceeding 50,000 units for a third month in a row, Malaysia’s automotive market has achieved a measure of stability post MCO. At PROTON we are relieved and confident as our results are showing consistency, as we have beat our monthly sales numbers from the previous year. This is a clear indicator of a return to a sustainable sales volume,” said Roslan Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer, Proton Edar.
