Would You Buy a Boyue Pro Pickup Truck?

As the world’s largest automotive market, China has seen many unique vehicles that are not available in any other parts of the world. Some of them are ordinary-looking and similar to what we’ve already seen (with some changes made specifically for the Chinese market) and some will leave you scratching your head in confusion. Like this odd-looking pickup truck called the Farizon FX.

So, what exactly is the Farizon FX and where does it come from? According to CarNewsChina.com, Farizon is a brand under Geely Commercial, which is the commercial vehicle division of Geely. If it isn’t obvious already, the FX is a pickup truck based on the Geely Boyue Pro. While some automakers repurpose their pickup trucks into SUVs, this unknown brand decided to do it the other way around. The result is a quirky four wheeler that sticks out like a sore thumb.

That’s because, instead of going back to the drawing board, the company took a bed (a small one at that) and stuck it to the back of the SUV, giving the FX a rather unattractive side profile. The bed has faux wood flooring and a tonneau cover. Other than that, little has been done to distinguish the FX from the vehicle it’s based on. The front grille has a different trim but that’s that.

The same can be said about the interior, which seems to be carried over from the Boyue Pro without any noticeable changes. Buyers of the FX will get the same level of equipment that includes a flat-bottomed steering wheel with the same blacked-out Geely emblem, a newly designed gear lever, a large infotainment screen as well as leather upholstery. CarNewsChina says the pickup truck has the same wheelbase as its SUV sibling, which means it is just as spacious.

Like the Boyue Pro, the Farizon FX is powered by a turbocharged 1.8-litre engine that makes 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque. With a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, it is capable of sprinting all the way to 150 km/h.

The FX seems to be already available in its home market, with prices starting from 126,900 (RM77,360) yuan to 136,900 yuan (RM83,460). Safe to say that it will only be sold in China.
