Yamaha Launches Electric Motor For All Vehicles

This is a customisable electric motor from Yamaha for almost any kind of vehicle  

In February 2020, Yamaha Motor started accepting orders for its new performance electric motor prototype. Yes, you read this right, they started selling a ‘prototype’. The objective of this electric motor is to allow current vehicle producers who do not have an electric vehicle program running or are in the midst of developing an electric vehicle to be able to instantly get an electric motor to be customised to their needs (within reason).  

This new electric motor Yamaha motor can generate up to 200 kW (268 hp) and this compact unit can be customised to suit the specific needs of individual customers with a short delivery time. 

This concept also allows current car petrol or diesel car owners to do an electric vehicle conversion with some ease. 

We have already seen in the past few years, innovative people retro fitting EV powertrains into classic Volkswagen Beetles (pictured above) to classic Range Rovers (please watch video below).

Yamaha motors has not forgotten about the motorcycle segment and they say that this electric motor can be adapted for motorcycle use as well. Take note all Perodua Kelisa and Kenari owners. This means you can get your current aged Kelisa and Kenari

The compact unit generates up to 200kW in output thanks to a high-efficiency segment conductor and advanced casting and processing technologies that Yamaha has cultivated over many years.

Yamaha will customize this electric motor prototype to the specific needs of individual customers and deliver in short time spans utilizing production technology that the company flexibly adapts to its various product groups, including motorcycles. 

Going forward, Yamaha expects to deepen its knowledge of evolving market needs by adapting the motor to the requirements of individual customers. 

This initiative is part of Yamaha Motor’s “Transforming Mobility” business strategy, which the company announced together with its long-term vision to 2030 under the banner of “ART for Human Possibilities” on December 11, 2018.
