Allianz Malaysia Board and employees came together to help the underserved communities as part of its yearly Hari Raya Aidilfitri initiative.
Allianz Malaysia’s usual practice is to collect in-kind donations from its employees. This year, due to social distancing measures put in place following the COVID-19 pandemic, this had to be modified to an online fund collection instead.
Allianz Malaysia’s corporate responsibility arm, Allianz4Good, used the fund to purchase essential items such as groceries and hygiene necessities, as well as relieve the financial strain on organisations through covering their rental costs.
The beneficiaries of the initiative were Selangor Cheshire Home, Persatuan Buku Jalanan Chow Kit, Lembaga Pelawat Rumah Ehsan, Padmasambhava Children Loving Association, Rumah Hope, IQ70PLUS, Shalom Education Centre, Pertubuhan Seri Keindahan Malaysia (BEKIND MALAYSIA), Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary KL, Persatuan Pendidikan Kanak Kanak Matakana Sabah and Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Selesa.
“We know a lot of people are struggling from the financial blow amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has been especially hard on the less fortunate and underserved communities. Thankfully, through the selfless donations from our Directors and colleagues, we were able to extend aid to over 1,600 people in the Holy month of Ramadhan,“ said Ng Siew Gek, Head of Allianz4Good.
Siew Gek added that with the current economic crisis and financial strain, corporate responsibility and support for the community was more important than ever. “What these past few months have taught us is that we must band together in times of need and help those that are less fortunate.”
Allianz4Good promotes social inclusion through its initiatives targeting underserved communities such as Persons with Disabilities, Orang Asli, refugees and those in the B40 income group.
