In line with Hyundai’s global corporate responsibility (CR) slogan ‘Moving the World Together’ and as part of its CR initiative, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors’ (HSDM) participated in the HOPE worldwide Malaysia’s Bolathon Event, which was held on the 1st of June 2014 at Padang Merbok Kuala Lumpur.
As part of its contribution for this event, HSDM produced T-shirts for participants of the Bolathon event and also offered a donation to cover some of the expenses incurred to organise the event.
This fundraising event by HOPE worldwide Malaysia, which is organised once every four years to coincide with the FIFA World Cup drew approximately 3000 participants. More than 90 HSDM employees and family members participated in the 10km run, 3km Masquerade Walk as well as a friendly futsal match.
Apart from lending its support and offering donation for the event, HSDM also sponsored sports shoes for the 40 children under the care of HOPE worldwide Malaysia who took part in the 3km walk and 10km run. HSDM employees who participated in the walk were also chaperones for 20 children at the event.
HSDM which has committed to one community programme each year as part of its efforts to give back to society, hopes to spread goodwill, hope and care through its activities especially to those in need.
“We have been involved in several CR and community projects since 2010 and we want to ensure this effort continues with more involvement from our employees. The Bolathon event is ideal as we are not only contributing towards a worthy cause but we also have an opportunity to be part of the global celebrations in conjunction with the FIFA World Cup, Hyundai is also one of the sponsors of the FIFA World Cup 2014,” said Mr Lau Yit Mun, Managing Director of HSDM.
