You will probably salivate at the pictures and droll over the performance figures that will be presented in the paragraphs below but …….. will you put your money down for your very own unit via an AP holder tomorrow?
Alfa Romeo turns 110-year-old this year and they might be celebrating this big day with a sizzling version of their sexy looking Giulia sedan. Specifically, a GTA version of the Giulia.
Even if the manufacturer itself does not want to comment on the speculation, a GTA version of the Giulia is unlikely to be forgotten in the near future. On the occasion of the anniversary celebrations, which will start in Milan in the summer of this 2020, there could be a limited special edition of the sports sedan Giulia, which may bear the traditional abbreviation GTA.
How Much Lighter
In the literal sense GTA stands for Gran Turismo Alleggerita and ‘alleggerita’ is Italian for ‘lightened’ which means that various lightweight construction measures will go hand in hand in its development.
How Much More BHP
There should be at least 20 to 30 kilograms of weight saving which should come from the use of carbon and other weight saving materials. The performance delivery for this Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA should be at least n the region of 620 PS to keep it interesting.
The currently most powerful model, the Giulia QV, produces 510 hp from a 2.9-liter biturbo V6 engine, which was developed by Ferrari. The current six-speed manual transmission will continue to be used.
What Else Could Alfa Romeo Show
Alfa could also move in the opposite direction and release this April 2020 the GTC Coupe. The GTV Coupe revival could hit production by 2021. Well, early last year, there was talk of a revival of the GTV6 and some sketches were circulating the internet showing a very ready looking sports coupe. There was also a very interesting rendered version from designer ‘Taekang Lee’ on the internet that looked more like a SONY PS4 driving game model (see pictures below).
Power in the GTV coupe should derive from 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 unit. The same unit also power Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Both if them offers an output of 503 horsepower. However, Italian automaker is pushing towards electrification, we should no be surprised if the engine incorporates electric motor and push the output in region of 600 horsepower.
