Here is the all new Kia Sorento without any camouflage like in previous spy shots that were running all over automotive portals. Car website www.carscoops.com had these moving shots of this large SUV on a drive.
The current and outgoing Kia Sorento is already a good looking SUV with a big American influence in its styling and priced to be in middle class homes in Malaysia.
Its sibling, the Hyundai Santa Fe came with a totally different look and shared only its powertrains, both diesel and petrol.
With the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe already launched and doing very well in all markets, it can be assumed that this new Kia Sorento will follow the same success (especially with this handsome looks).
The current Kia Sorento is still on sale in Malaysia and it comes in the GT-Line and GT-Line S variants. Both feature 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, alongside stainless steel side steps, red brake calipers, new foglamps and twin exhaust pipes. GT-Line models get projection headlights, while GT-Line S features LED headlights as standard.
The new GT-Line car is based on the mid-range KX-2 Sorento, but gains a stop/start button, eight-way adjustable electric seats, a 7-inch LCD instrument display, lane keep assist, and a driver attention warning system. GT-Line S builds on this with a park assist feature, a top-down look 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, a ten-way adjustable electric driver’s seat, a panoramic roof, additional driver assists including autonomous emergency braking, and a premium Harman & Kardon sound system.
The new transmission is optional on KX-2 and KX-3 trim level cars, and Kia claims it improves fuel economy over the outgoing six-speed. With the new gearbox in place an official figure of 43.5mpg is quoted, with 170g/km CO2. No changes have been made to the Sorento’s 2.2-litre, 197bhp turbodiesel engine.
Elsewhere, one minor change across the range has been introduced for 2018; Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is now installed as standard on KX-1, KX-2 and KX-3 models.
The current model Kia Sorento with three-row of seats, impressive off-road capability and the sophisticated all-wheel drive system under its soft leather clad cabin will continue to be a best seller. Sure, most of our Kia Sorento owners may not take their SUVs to these extreme limits, but it’s nice to know that a weekend adventure off the beaten path is possible.
