The government’s ‘e-Tunai Rakyat’ programme, which promised Malaysians over the age of 18 earning less than RM100,000 a year RM30 through an e-wallet is finally taking shape.
Today it was revealed that the e-wallet that would facilitate this transaction would be the Touch ‘n Go eWallet.
Make sure you download the app and verify your account to claim your RM30 in virtual currency between 15 January 2020 and 15 March 2020.
That money can be spent with 110,000 merchants nationwide, or on tolls, parking, petrol and much more. You can download the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app for free for iOS and Android devices. Here’s the press release with more information

Touch ‘n Go eWallet is excited to share that it has been selected to partner with with the Ministry of Finance to drive the Government’s ‘e-Tunai Rakyat’ programme.
Under this initiative, Malaysians above 18 years old who earn less than RM100,000 annually will be entitled to receive RM30 per person through the Touch ‘n Go eWallet. The campaign will kickstart on 15 January 2020 and will run for 2 months until 15 March 2020.
The Touch ‘n Go eWallet’s participation in this initiative will enable Malaysians to seamlessly claim this benefit through the eWallet. Eligible Malaysians can claim and use the funds at any one of the Touch ‘n Go eWallet’s 110,000 merchant acceptance points to-date across F&B, petrol stations, movies, flights, utilities and groceries. Users can also make payments for mobile reloads, in-app purchases like street parking and toll payment via unique features such as PayDirect and RFID.
In this partnership with the Ministry of Finance, the Touch ‘n Go eWallet is in full support of the Government’s initiatives to spur a digital economy – ensuring that no Malaysian is left behind as the country powers towards becoming a fully digital economy.
